Details
Available sources on Samuel de Champlain highlight not only the explorer of North America as well as the founder and administrator of Quebec, they also illuminate the flesh and blood being, with his tried and suffering body, the social being, with a complicated sentimental life, and the man of hope, with his dreams of a humanist Christian and his frustrations of a mistreated courtier. They remind us that Samuel de Champlain was not a superhero, but that he shared our human condition.
