Community Support for the Sawmill & Match Worker Strikes, 1891 & 1924
It was a century ago this month that “les Allumettières” (match workers) of E.B. Eddy staged the first strike by women workers in Quebec history. Three decades earlier, 2500 unionized sawmill workers had walked out in the largest strike to-date in Canadian history. Join us to hear of these and other important labour landmarks that took place in the Chaudière District.
Admission is free. All are welcome to attend.
Presented in partnership with the Workers' History Museum.
